Construction

Westwood Design products are built to last from birth until you send your child off to college (and beyond). Our cribs use massive solid wood corner posts and top rails. Parts don't flex and give when you push on them.

We go to extraordinary lengths to ensure that our joints stay joined, and don't work loose over time. Removable pieces thread into steel inserts permanently glued into the wood. When you remove a drawer and look inside a chest, you will see how many corner braces and cleats we use to make our furniture tough.

Anatomy of a Westwood Drawer Box

You're going to be opening your chest or changer drawers a lot over the coming years. Drawers are usually the first thing to fail on low quality furniture. At Westwood, we build our drawers to last. When you're shopping for furniture, pull out a drawer and see how it's made. What you find hidden within part of the furniture you don't normally see will tell you a lot about the company and its design philospohy. Here's what goes into one of ours.

Dovetails

We only use 5 piece English dovetailed solid wood drawer boxes- the strongest, most durable drawer construction available. Pull out a drawer and look at the competition. Often you will find stapled, fiberboard drawer boxes.

Drawer Box

Our drawer boxes are fully finished solid wood, with clean, smooth surfaces. Drawer fronts are easily replaceable in case of damage.

Corner Blocks

Flip one of our drawers over. You'll see wood center supports (to prevent the drawer bottom from sagging when loaded), and reinforcing corner blocks in every corner.

Drawer Glides

All of our chests use high-quality precision ball bearing drawer glides. These are seldom found even on adult furniture. Our quiet, smooth, and strong drawer glides are something you will appreciate every time you open a drawer.

Finishes

We use only top quality durable and safe Valspar finishing materials.

Quality Control

Our independent quality control experts check every production run of our furniture. If there's a problem, it doesn't leave the factory. As part of the certification process, we regularly send our products to an independent third party testing lab.
